Katy Scarlett Carden

Katy Scarlett Carden, age 75 of the Westside Community, passed away Tuesday, October 13th 2015.

Katy graduated from Westside High School in 1958 and entered nursing school. After earning her L.P.N. license, she began her career at Hamilton Medical Center that lasted for more than 44 years.

She was a member of Dogwood Valley Baptist Church for 45 years.

Although she never married or had children, she was “Grandmother” to her 17 nieces and nephews. She offered encouragement to them during all of their important life events including birthdays, Christmas, during school activities or while they were away at college or in the military. She also continued this practice with her 37 great-nieces and nephews and a host of children of friends an co-workers.

She was the second child and oldest daughter of Thomas Jefferson Sr and Maxine Worley Carden who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Hick and Mary Swanson Carden and her maternal grandparents, C.W. and Lula Houston Worley; and brother, Jeff Carden, Jr.She is survived by sisters, Carol Walker, Janice (Richard) Gragg, Candace Deal, and Deborah Carden, brothers; Eli (Brenda) Carden and Johnny (Leesa) Carden.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, October 16th 2015 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with Pastor Roy Gentry officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, October 15th 2015.
