Grace (Bridges) Groves

Grace Bridges Groves, age 87, died peacefully at the home of her daughter on Friday, July 31, 2015.  Grace was born in Gardners, Georgia on December 29, 1927 to the late Emory and Florence Bridges and lived most of her life in Chatsworth, Georgia. Her retirement years were spent in Orange Beach and Spanish Fort, Alabama, and the past 5 years in Macon, Georgia.  Her love of God, family, friends, and church defined her life. Grace was a faithful member of Baptist churches wherever she lived, most recently Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon.   She enjoyed a long term career as a teller and customer service representative at Cohutta Bank in Chatsworth.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Raymond Groves, as well as her parents and two brothers, J.T. and Edward Bridges.

            Her memory and legacy will be forever cherished by her family and friends.  Survivors include her daughter Vicki Groves Bass (Charles) of Macon, GA, son Don (Sandy) Groves of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren Jonathan (Vanessa) Bass, Kristina Bass (Townsend) Bailey, Tucker (Ashley) Groves, and Margaret Groves (Kevin) Worrell and eight great grandchildren.  Grace is also survived by her nephew Eddie Bridges and nieces Liz Bridges Selinske and Tana Bridges Daugharthy,  as well as many loving friends and extended family including the kind and compassionate care givers from The Cottages on Wesleyan Assisted Living and Pruitt Hospice.  A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Chatsworth, Ga and visitation from 1-2 p.m.
