William A. (Pete) Cummings, age 92 of Tunnel Hill, departed this life Wednesday, September 23rd 2015 at his home.
Pete was born October 10th 1922. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Tunnel Hill where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James (Jim) and Jessie Black Cummings; step-mother, Alma Cummings; brothers and sisters, Albert Cummings, Sybil Cummings, Robert Cummings, Gertrude Bramblett, Mary Pinson, James (Toby) Cummings, Winnie McClure; Johnnie Ruth Clark, Emily Springfield and Evelyn Cerullo.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillie Maude Bagley Cummings; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and David Miller; grandchildren, Captain Benjamin and Noel Miller, and Dan Miller; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Marie Bagley Wilene Buck and Jane Bagley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Cummings will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 26th 2015 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with Rev. Mark Atkins and Rev. Keely Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Hill Cemetery with Military Rites.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 25th 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
