Robert LeRoy Davidson

Robert “Bob” LeRoy Davidson, age 98 of Dalton, passed away Monday, May 11th 2015 at Dalton Place Senior Living.

He was born in Red Oak, Iowa, the oldest of nine children. In 1940, Bob graduated from an aircraft school in Omaha, Nebraska and was employed by Bell Aircraft of Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York and later at North American Aviation in Kansas City, Kansas. Following World War II he was employed by three retail drug companies and spent thirty years in upper management before retiring in 1980. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively by motor home and were also avid boaters. They both were members of the Chattanooga Choo-Choo’s Traveling Club and charter members of the U.S. Power Squadron in Chattanooga. He was a 64 year member of Delaware Lodge # 96 F. & A.M. of Kansas City, Kansas. He was the oldest member of Tunnel Hill First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Wilma “Jeanne” Poole Davidson; parents, Jesse and Ruth Rolfe Davidson;  grandson, Scott Edwards; son-in-law, Garry Edwards; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edith M. and Rank E. Poole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Thad Reznor, Loraine and Robert Getzfrid and Janice Getzfrid; brothers, Dr. J. Edward Davidson and his first wife, Jean Hasselbach Davidson, and brother Wayne Davidson.

He is survived by his daughter, Tami Edwards; grandson and wife, Ty and Angie Edwards; great-grandchildren, Julia Nicole Edwards, Emily Ann Edwards, Tyler Landon Edwards, Baylee Mitchell and Jacob Mitchell; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Morris Workman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Ardy Davidson and Jim and Marie Davidson; sisters-in-law, Lou Davidson and Tootie Davidson; sister-in-law and husband, Doris and Harold Hartley; numerous nieces and nephews.  

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, May 16th  2015 at Tunnel Hill First United Methodist Church with Rev.Jay Tenney officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00  pm until 2:00 pm Saturday, May 16th 2015 in the Fellowship Hall of Tunnel Hill First United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward, Nebraska at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Royal Oaks, Dalton Place and Heartlite Hospice for their love and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Davidson to Tunnel Hill First United Methodist Church or Heartlite Hospice.
