Mary Hazel (Clark) Ausmus

Loving and encouraging wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mary Hazel Ausmus, 86, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.

Hazel is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Danny Ausmus, and children, Susy Talley (husband Steve) and Rhett Ausmus (wife Angela), all of Dalton.

She was affectionately known as Nana by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her grandchildren include Makenzie Cox (husband Cameron), Ali Cates (husband Matt), Kacie Smith (husband Austin), Molly Ausmus, and Sarah Ausmus. Hazel was also a proud great-grandmother to Annie Cox, Ruby Cox, Jovie Smith, and Crew Cates—all of Dalton.

She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one sister, and two brothers.

A woman of great love and quiet strength, Hazel cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a deep appreciation for a well-kept yard and found joy in tending to her flowers. Her home and heart were always open, and her warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church, located at 2310 S Dixie Hwy, Dalton, GA.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

There will be no graveside service.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice of Dalton for their courteous, kind, and loving care during Hazel’s final days.
