John (Bobby) Robert Crawford

John Robert “Bobby” Crawford, born October 31, 1934, in Gilmer County, Georgia, died February 5, 2024, at his home.

Bobby attended school in Gilmer County until his family moved to Dalton in 1946. He attended Varnell Elementary, Pleasant Grove, and Dalton High Schools. Bobby and his brother joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict serving on Aircraft Carrier U.S.S, Lake Champlain. He was discharged January 4, 1957, at Mayport, Jacksonville, Florida and returned to his parents’ home in Dalton. He met his bride to be shortly after he returned to Dalton and was married March 21, 1958, at her parents’ home.

Bobby owned and operated Crawford TV Sales and Service. After he sold his business, he worked for General Appliance of Chattanooga, Tennessee until January of 2018. He retired and enjoyed his home that was built on the farm he and his family purchased in 1946. He loved to play golf and be with his family and grandchildren.

He was an active member of Cohutta First Baptist Church, Cohutta, Georgia. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Lamar Crawford; parents, Carl Wilce Crawford and Effie Iowa Souther Crawford; grandparents, Robert Lee Crawford and Mary Ivie Crawford; John Washington Souther and Sarah Samantha Cole Souther, and brother, Dr. Morris Lee Jackson Crawford and wife, Carol Barrett Crawford.

He is survived by his wife Sue Williamson Crawford; son, Johnathan Clarke (Allison) Crawford; grandchildren, Mickey Lamar (Kelley) Crawford; Luke Jonathan, Ruth Ann, Abigail Sue; great-grandchildren, Taylor Michael, Zachary Perry Crawford; sisters, Sara Frances (Charlie) Crawford Powell and Mary Alice Crawford Wynn; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Bobby Crawford will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 10, 2024, from Cohutta First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Jarrett officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

The pallbearers will be, Mike and Tom Williamson, Dudley Keeter, Luke, Zach, and Taylor Crawford.
