James Walter (J.W.) Hawkins, Jr., age 95 of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Walter and Ruby Elizabeth Hawkins; 8 brothers, Selma, Edgar, Claud, Ben, Winfrey, George, Paul, and Fred; and 4 sisters, Beulah, Loretta, Mary Lynn, and Elizabeth.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, Tena and Randy Porter; granddaughters, Amanda and Neal Goodson and Hannah and Taylor Swilling; great-grandchildren, Olivia Goodson, Reuben Goodson, Porter Swilling and Caroline Goodson; brothers-in-law, Colquitt Holcomb and Keith Waldrop; and sisters-in-law, Martha Jean Hawkins and Barbara Hawkins; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of J.W. Hawkins will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2023, from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Rev. Neal Goodson and Rev. George Ross officiating. Burial will be in Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2023.
