Helen M. Fowler, age 74 of Dalton, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2020.
She was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. Helen was a 1964 graduate of Calhoun High School. She worked for many years as a teller in the Dalton area before retiring. She then continued some bookkeeping, volunteered at Hamilton Medical Center and was an avid member of the Friends of Fort Mountain. Her hobbies included quilting, bookkeeping and playing cards.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, David Smithey and Raymond “Frog” Fowler; and her parents, J.D. and Fannie Massengill.
She is survived by her children: Tony Smithey of Marietta, GA and Myra Sloan of Cincinnati, OH; Step children and spouses, Jeanene Fowler and Dan Mason of Atlanta, GA, Gigi and Paul Dykes of Statham, GA; Jeff and Rene’ Fowler of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Sloan and Maggie Sloan and their father Shane Sloan all of Knoxville, TN; Jennifer Dykes of Atlanta, GA; Jordan and Taylor Dykes of Alpharetta, GA ; Tyler Fowler, Jacob Fowler and Kaleigh Fowler of Cartersville, GA; sisters and brother-in-law Barbara Gravitt, Frances and William Smith both of Hill City, GA; Pat and Jerry Gibson of Dalton, GA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and her dear friend and traveling buddy, Margaret Kollock; and a host of friends including her card playing buddies.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Helen Fowler will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16th, 2021, at Grove Level Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating. At her request, her ashes will be interred at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
