Elsie Lee DeBerry of Lafayette Georgia, formerly of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Nick Clem; her sister, Bea Peterson; and her parents, Theodore and Bertha Plummer.
Lee is lovingly remembered by her sons, James DeBerry (Reena) and Michael DeBerry; her daughter, Jaquitta O’Brien; her brothers, William Clem and Bob Clem; and her sisters, Sandy Mercer and Katherine Beach.
She is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in her heart. A very special niece, Trudy Kirby, helped care for Lee with devotion and love, something the family will always be grateful for.
Lee will be remembered most for her beautiful smile and the gentle kindness she shared with everyone she met. She found deep purpose in her work with special needs adults, helping them with daily living skills and forming meaningful friendships along the way. She loved going to lunch with the ladies she worked with, and she cherished the joy of playing bunko with her sister and their church friends.
She also absolutely loved watching Fox News and kept up with it faithfully—something that always made her feel connected and engaged with the world. She leaves behind dear friends David and Betty Young and Hannah Postelle, who were a treasured part of her life.
A memorial service honoring Lee’s life will be held on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church.
Her warmth, grace, and loving spirit will be missed deeply and remembered always
