Dennis Bailey Obituary
Dennis Lawerence Bailey, age 85, passed away Sunday, May 17th 2020 in Advent Health Care Gordon.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Maycel Bailey; brothers and sisters, Ursa Green, Doris Flowers, Louise Stolman, Mary Hanshaw, Daniel Bailey, Joseph Bailey, and Dillard Bailey; and great-granddaughter Bella Smith.
He survived by his loving wife of 66 years Lurla Bailey of Chatsworth; daughter, Cathy Carroll of Chatsworth, David (Vickie) Bailey of Chatsworth; brother, Hobart Harry Bailey; sisters, Carol Joan Crow and Virginia Ann Warren; grandchildren, Jason (Emilee) Smith of Calhoun, Shawn (Brittany) Carroll of Chatsworth, Chad (Kathryn) Bailey of Dalton, Jennifer (Stephen) Payne of Chatsworth, Matthew (Lesile) Bailey of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Eden, Jagger, and Hadley Smith, Carson and Pasiley Carroll, Charity and Xander Bailey, Kaityln Payne, Sara Knight, and Emily Lawson, and Audrey Bailey.
Enlisting into the Army in 1954, he had great accomplishments with metals of SR Parachutist, National Defense Service Metal and Expert Carbine. He was in the 101st infantry. Serving his country, he took great pride in. He always supported the veterans and the wounded warrior project. He loved his family and friends very dearly. Looking out the window at his squirrels and birds was a must every day. Working a job of crossword puzzles and watching the DUKE brought great joy to his lasting days.
He was a fighter and did that for many years. Cancer did a toll, but it never took his spirit. He loved God and always talked of a better place in which he has reached now. Heaven Bound was his goal! Special thanks to all the caregivers, Saving Grace Senior Services, Always Caring, Regency Southern Care, and to the doctors at Gordon and Murray Adventist Health, Carlton Pharmacy, EMS. In lieu of flowers the family request all donations to be made in memory of Dennis Bailey to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Graveside services for Mr. Bailey will be conducted 4:00 pm Wednesday, May 20,2020 from Murray Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Southers officiating. Visitation will be from 1pm to the funeral hour at Jones Funeral Home Chatsworth.
