Connie Elaine Wilson Kendrick departed this life on Saturday, April 23, after a 7-year valiant battle with ovarian cancer and the resulting complications. Even on the worst of days, she was “clothed with strength and dignity.” (Proverbs 31:25).
Connie was a life-long resident and the unofficial mayor of Crandall. She and her dear aunt, Patricia (Potty), kept a watchful eye on the neighborhood. She was proud of her heritage. Family bonds have always been important to Connie and to her time spent with family was always time well-spent. She treasured her Wilson and Parrish families - her aunts, uncles, and her dear cousins. Each has special memories of her that will help their broken hearts heal.
Connie loved to play softball. It was at the softball field that she met the love of her life and future husband, Duane. Over the course of their 34-year marriage, they shared many good times, including a 7,000 multi-state road trip. One of their favorite destinations was Daytona Beach. They enjoyed many great trips there over the years. They also enjoyed camping. Often their travel companions were brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Karen. Selecting the place to eat was always an important part of the trip.
Over her time at Shaw, Connie developed friendships that were more like family than just work colleagues. She would always strive to do her very best. She was quick with a kind, encouraging word for others; but, you never doubted what she was thinking. She would always speak her mind. Most of all, she was known for her laugh. She enjoyed sharing a good laugh with her friends.
Connie was proceeded in death by her parents, Ray and Wanda Wilson, as well as her in-laws, Glenn and Oslee Kendrick. Her brother-in-law, Willard Kendrick, also proceeded her in death, as well as beloved Wilson and Parrish aunts and uncles. Also waiting to greet her were her beloved fur babies, Andy, Amos and Otis.
Connie is survived by her husband, Duane, who has been devotedly by her side during this difficult journey. Their fur babies, Abby and Lucas will miss her greatly and bring comfort to Duane.
