Lewis Edward “Buddy” Hicks, age 76 of Tunnel Hill, passed away Monday, March 12th 2018 in Ridgewood Manor.
Buddy enjoyed showing horses. In 1972, he and his special horse, Caper, won the World Championship Pleasure Racking Horse title. He loved being a Papaw. Not a weekend went by that his home was not filled with the laughter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, his love for God and singing His praises left a legacy that will live on. Sing on Papaw. We love you and will see you again someday.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Cochran Seritt; father, Lewis E. Hicks, Sr.; brothers, J.M. and Jimmy Hicks; sister, Mary Land; and brother-in-law, David Coker.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Holmes Hicks; children, Brian and Matt Hicks, Shari and Eddie Trammell; and Nikki Robinson; grandchildren, Misti Sanders, Kasey Sissom, Christina Howell, Jarren Trammell, Randall Trammell, Morgan and Alex Robinson; great-grandchildren, Treniti, Jacob and Maddison Sanders; Georgia Caroline and Lincoln Trammell, Wyatt and Shiloh Sissom; and Hulen Howell; sister, Kaye Coker; brother Roger Hicks; loving step-father Jack Seritt; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 14th 2018 from Maple Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Robertson, Rev. Lillard Stringer and Rev. J.T. Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
